Popcorn Cupcakes and Trivia, anyone?

WOW! What a weekend... and then a very busy start to the week {smile}. What is it with us women? We thrive on busy-busy-busy! I'm finally taking the time to sit down and share some of my weekend fun with you -- the question is, are you ready?

Photobucket

On Saturday Night, I attended my very first Trivia Night for a very good cause (a local school raising funds for the little kiddos). Anywho, the theme was "A Star Studded Event." Of course, there was a table decorating contest and the majority of us at our table decided we didn't want to spend a lot of money, so we kept it fairly simple. However, we had some fun along the way. We went with a movie night theme and purchased some themed printables {here}. A few of ladies met up for coffee and took on a couple of  'assignments.'  One of mine was the popcorn cupcakes.

Photobucket

I thought I would share this fun {DIY} with all of you lovely ladies.  To get this party started, you'll need a cake mix (any flavor will do), frosting, white marshmallows and colored marshmallows (the yellow ones in particular, they will give the 'popcorn' the buttery look) -- and a cupcake pan, of course {smiles}.

Photobucket

So, you're going to whip up the cupcakes and frost those yummy treats. Then you're going to get ready to pop some popcorn... well, not really. You're going to make some sweet, marshmallowy flavored popcorn. Grab a knife or some scissors and you're set to go.

What you're going to do is put a cut/slit in the marshmallows, and place them ever so strategically on your cupcakes. Slowly, but surely a handful of 'popcorn' will appear.

Whether you buy one of those darling printables, or create one of your own -- all that's left to do is place the wrapper on the cupcake and voila!  Darling, right?  This cute and ever so simple how-to was included in our purchase... and the cupcakes were a hit!  {yay!}

We had a great time playing trivia and just happened to come in 4th place out of 23 teams.  Not too shabby, right?  Fun was had by all.   As you can see in this picture of my hubby and I below, I was a wee-bit exhausted.  I had no idea I looked that bad {boooo}!  Oh well.  It was a long day, which just happened to be the conclusion of an ever so long week.  Wished you could have joined in on the fun!  Good news, you can party with me all week at these fabulous linky par-tays.
